Fever

Q. What is the cause of fever?

A. Fever may result from an increase of heat production or deficient heat elimination. The principal cause of the rise of temperature in fever has been shown to be due to diminished elimination of heat. The sweat glands become paralyzed, the skin is dry, so that little evaporation takes place from the surface.
